A glitch on Facebook is adding Gen Z slang to shared posts without user input.
Mogging is Gen Z and Gen Alpha slang for dominating or outshining others-usually in terms of appearance, fitness, or straight-out cockiness. It comes from the acronym for Alpha Male of the Group, namely AMOG. And you'll see it all over TikTok.
On last night's Saturday Night Live, we learned that time stops for nothing-not people and not language. Marcello Hernández, the cast member perhaps most likely to become SNL's next breakout star, dropped by the "Weekend Update" desk to inform the Millennial co-anchor Colin Jost-and, by proxy, many Millennial audience members-of the slang terms favored by Gen Z.
Trails Beyond the Horizon's new character, Ulrika, is like staring into the abyss of a broken TikTok algorithm, and while my knee-jerk reaction might have been shock and even a little disdain, over the next 100 hours, I grew to find the character's bit surprisingly genuine and, admittedly, hilarious. What first felt like a gimmick grew to become one of my absolute favorite parts of the game, enhancing the already distinct personality of the Trails games.
You can't get to the land of cool without first climbing cringe mountain.- Erica Mallett, New York Times. As dangerous as Everest and as technically demanding as K2, no discussion of the world's most challenging peaks is complete without a mention of Cringe Mountain. But for those willing to undertake the rigorous climb, the rewards waiting at the summit are extraordinary.
"Somebody put me up on it and said it was about masturbation?" says the 40-year-old singer and songwriter, which is about half-right: As detailed in an essay in Harper's that went viral last month, to goon - a term heretofore associated with Jesso thanks to his cult-fave 2015 album "Goon" - means in Gen Z parlance to masturbate at such great lengths that the act leads to a kind of trance state.
2. "Just put the fries in the bag" - Something to say to someone who is waffling, or talking for way too long. When you want to "Cool story, bro" someone, you say, "Just put the fries in the bag." Shush. 4. "Ohio" - To describe something that's weird, odd, or creepy. If you speak Gen Z, this is basically "backrooms," and if you're more fluent in millennial, it's similar to "creepy pasta."
