Gardaí on Friday released an image of a tattoo on the man's arm in a bid to identify him such were the facial injuries sustained during the horrific assault. Gardaí thanked the public and the media for their assistance in identifying the man. The man remains in a critical condition in Beaumont Hospital on Saturday. Two men arrested on Friday in connection with the assault remain in garda custody for questioning.
Two young men died in a fatal road collision involving four cars on a local road at Killeen, Ballinunty. Gardai said that shortly before 6pm, they and emergency services responded to a serious collision. Two young men, aged in their early 20s and late teens, who were occupants of one of the cars, were pronounced dead at the scene. Two women, both aged in their 20s and travelling in a second car, were taken by ambulance to Tipperary University Hospital, Clonmel.
