FREMONT - A police officer who shot a man suspected to be involved in a series of automobile and residential burglaries unintentionally fired his weapon after being bitten by a police dog, police said. The shooting happened last Saturda y about 9:45 p.m. in the area of Blacow Road and Mattos Court. In a statement released Thursday night, Fremont police identified the officer as Sgt. James Taylor, a 17-year veteran of the Fremont Police Dept. He has been a sergeant there for about five years.
FREMONT - Police responded early Friday around 12:20 a.m. to a report that a 93-year-old man had shot his 86-year-old wife on the 5000 block of Mowry Avenue. The 911 caller told officers he had shot his spouse and wanted to turn himself in, according to the Fremont Police Department. When authorities arrived, the man was standing by his vehicle, and the victim was in the front passenger seat.
Officers responded shortly after 12 p.m. to a report of a collision on Osgood Road and found the bicyclist had died at the scene. According to the Fremont Police Department, a semi-truck traveling north on Osgood stopped in the center left-turn lane to turn into a business parking lot. The bicyclist, wearing a helmet, was heading southbound on the west side of the road.
