Cora coming in, she deserves her chance. She has been a proven goalscorer the last number of years and she has worked really hard. I am really delighted for her and if she gets her opportunity, I am sure she will grab it with both hands.
This summer will be transformational for soccer in our region. With the World Cup final drawing international attention to the region, Gotham FC is using the match to reinforce the narrative that women's soccer belongs on the same stage, not on the sidelines, putting the club's players front and center when a global spotlight is on New York.
The dates for the inaugural Club World Cup were approved by the FIFA Council in December. The tournament is set to run in the middle of the English domestic calendar -- which will also impact several leagues across Europe including Spain, France and Germany. A spokesperson for the WSL said holding the tournament in January is "at best inconvenient, and at worst, catastrophic" for the domestic game in England, commercially and for player welfare.
