The EU wants to criminalize AI-generated porn images and deepfakes

The European Council and Parliament have agreed with a proposal to criminalize different types of cyber-violence, including non-consensual sharing of intimate images and deepfakes made by AI tools.
The directive aims to help victims in Member States that haven't criminalized cyber-violence by providing a common set of rules and requiring member states to develop measures to help users identify and prevent cyber-violence.
The recent spread of pornographic deepfake images using Taylor Swift's face prompted EU officials to move forward with the proposal. [ more ]
