As the Magerstadt Professor of Cardiovascular Epidemiology, Khan studies the epidemiology of risk for heart failure. Using population-based cohorts and large electronic health record data analyses, she performs mechanistic studies that may enhance risk prediction and identify novel therapeutic agents for the prevention and treatment of cardiovascular disease. Khan and her team have developed a tool to predict risk and prevent cardiovascular disease such as heart failure, stroke, arrhythmia, coronary artery disease and many other conditions.

Wednesday's management advisory memorandum from VA's Office of Inspector General reviewed how the agency and Oracle Health were following interface testing procedures at the Captain James A. Lovell Federal Health Care Center in North Chicago, Illinois. VA and the Department of Defense officially announced the launch of the new EHR system at the Chicago medical center in March 2024. VA's software is designed to be interoperable with the Pentagon's similar Oracle Health system.

The findings, published in JAMA Network Open, draw on surveys of more than 1,400 physicians and advanced practice providers at both Harvard-affiliated Mass General Brigham and Atlanta's Emory Healthcare. At MGB, use of ambient documentation technologies was associated with a 21.2 percent absolute reduction in burnout prevalence at 84 days, while Emory Healthcare saw a 30.7 percent absolute increase in documentation-related well-being at 60 days.
