Since Ross Atkins has taken over the Toronto Blue Jays general manager position over a decade ago, he has managed to give out some of the biggest contracts in franchise history. In doing so, Atkins had been able to secure some massive talent to play for the Blue Jays. His latest signing just so happens to be the biggest, a $210 million contract that he used to land star free agent right-hander Dylan Cease just this past week.
The Toronto Blue Jays are putting in the work this offseason to get ready for the new campaign, starting with the signing of Dylan Cease to the largest free agent deal in franchise history. The addition of Cease helps fill a hole that was left in the rotation following the departures of Chris Bassitt and Max Scherzer, and brings some strikeout power to a rotation that is arguably one of the top in the American League.
The Toronto Blue Jays made their first big splash of the 2025-26 offseason on Wednesday when they signed Dylan Cease to a huge seven-year, $210 million deal to bulk up their roster. In doing so, the Blue Jays now have their front-end of the rotation set for the upcoming season with Cease, Kevin Gausman and a returning Shane Bieber as their three-headed monster, creating a pitching nightmare for opposing teams.
