Anthropic has launched Claude for Legal, dramatically expanding its generative AI offerings for lawyers and legal professionals. In a Tuesday press release, the company announced that Claude Cowork now connects to 20 widely used legal platforms and unveiled 12 practice-area specific plug-ins. The new features mark a significant upgrade for Claude's legal plug-in, which first launched in February.

"Claude has regressed to the point it cannot be trusted to perform complex engineering," an AMD senior director wrote in a widely shared post on GitHub.

Claude's primary affect states were curiosity and anxiety, with secondary states of grief, relief, embarrassment, optimism, and exhaustion. The report noted that Claude's personality was consistent with a relatively healthy neurotic organization.

In exclusive interviews announcing new partnerships with the Allen Institute and the Howard Hughes Medical Institute, Anthropic's head of life sciences Jonah Cool and Grace Huynh, executive director of AI applications at the Allen Institute, said the elite science labs are using Claude-powered AI agents to tackle the analysis, annotation, and coordination bottlenecks that can stretch research timelines into years.

Claude died last month at 30 years old after he was diagnosed with liver cancer. "In a city full of icons, Claude became one of the most beloved without ever seeking the spotlight."

Anthropic has been building out support for third-party apps inside of Claude. As of today, the chatbot can now connect to platforms like Slack and Canva, fetching up files from inside those apps or performing tasks within them on a user's behalf. For instance, when connected to Box, Claude can now search for files, preview documents inline and answer questions about the content in front of you.

Claude will also form the core of Snowflake Intelligence, the data platform's enterprise intelligence agent. The two companies have collaborated before, with thousands of Snowflake customers processing trillions of Claude tokens monthly through Snowflake Cortex AI. The previous integration brought Claude to Snowflake's AI Data Cloud, but this new phase goes further. The focus is now on implementing advanced AI agents capable of multi-step analysis.
