Taking advantage of a public-private partnership with the state of Florida's Broadband Opportunity Program - and with funds from the U.S. Treasury's Capital Projects Fund - Comcast has expanded its network to more than 32,000 homes and businesses in 16 counties in Florida, bringing internet, mobile, entertainment, and security services from Xfinity and Comcast Business to those residents and businesses.
"Fiber-optic internet continues to drive communities forward - fostering growth, attracting new businesses, and opening doors to new opportunities for residents," said Tom Perrone, Chief Operations Officer at GoNetspeed. "With this new network, East Haven is now equipped with future-proof connectivity that will evolve alongside the community's progress. We're proud to serve another Connecticut town like East Haven and look forward to seeing how this digital transformation enhances the way residents work, learn, and play online for years to come."
"This program is bringing about life-changing improvements for Alabamians, particularly those who live in remote areas," ADECA Director Kenneth Boswell said in a press release about the Alabama middle-mile grants.
"This project exemplifies how public-private partnerships can deliver fast, effective broadband expansion," said Brian Worthen, CEO of Visionary Broadband. "We're proud to lead the nation in completing this work and look forward to continuing to serve rural communities with the reliable connectivity they deserve."
The Freestate Middle Mile Network, which is publicly funded and publicly owned, showcases our state's financial stewardship and strategic approach to improving the digital landscape.
