HSV are currently second from bottom in the league with a game in hand. However, they are not to be taken lightly by any means. They actually opened their Bundesliga campaign by drawing with Wolfsburg, one of the strongest teams in the league. What's more, they defeated Bayer Leverkusen on penalties to reach the Pokal quarterfinals, and they even made it all the way to the semifinals last season.
There were two special activities before kick-off. The FCB Women players wore special warm-up shirts with a message of support for Lena Oberdorf after the recurrence of her cruciate ligament injury. As well as that, both teams presented a "WE29" banner together in support of the DFB's bid to host UEFA Women's EURO 2029 (' WE29 - Together WE Rise'), with FCB captain Stanway wearing a WE29 armband during the game.
Bayern Munich's club website issued a release on the injury: Lena Oberdorf tore the cruciate ligament in her right knee in FC Bayern Women's Bundesliga game against Köln, as confirmed following an examination on Monday. The 23-year-midfielder will have an operation on Tuesday and be out of action for several months. It's her second cruciate ligament tear in her right knee, having also suffered the injury in 2024.
