LFB Dozens of firefighters have extinguished a fire in the basement of a data centre in east London. London Fire Brigade (LFB) said around 60 firefighters and eight fire engines were called to Nutmeg Lane, Blackwall at 04:50 GMT on Saturday. The fire broke out in a battery room containing lead-acid batteries and was brought under control before 07:00. The cause of the blaze has not been determined.
The FDNY says a person is recovering at the hospital after an NYPD truck collided with a car in Coney Island. Emergency personnel responded to Cropsey and Neptune avenues just before 2:45 p.m. Thursday. Citizen app video shows the front of a black sedan smashed while the truck appears undamaged. Fire officials say EMS took the person to NYU Langone Health-Brooklyn. Their condition is currently unknown.
Rising demand for services has led an NHS trust serving Suffolk and Essex to declare a critical incident. East Suffolk and North Essex NHS Foundation Trust told the BBC it was facing "significant pressure", including hospitals in Ipswich and Colchester. Provincial police is urging Simcoe, Ont., residents to shelter-in-place while officers respond to an active incident involving potentially multiple armed suspects.
