Antoin O'Duibhir and Kerry, his wife and interior designer, founded New Wave Design and Contracting, a design-build firm based in Long Island City, focusing on historic home renovations. In their renovation story, they detail the importance of maintaining historic elements while updating spaces for modern living. Notable recently, they meticulously preserved vintage features while incorporating modern amenities, like a new kitchen and updated baths, in a nearly intact four-story brownstone, showcasing their skillful balance of old-world charm with contemporary needs, especially with a striking new window system that enhances natural light throughout the home.
Our very first brownstone, in Park Slope, was featured on the television series Billions... I didn't make a penny on the job, but I learned a lot.
We're very well-versed in Landmark issues... I know these brownstones like the back of my hand.
We kept the floors, moldings, and doors, stripping everything down to the original wood... going to great lengths to preserve features like parquet floor borders, marble mantels, and an unusual archway.
We maximized the window system as much as we could, running it from floor to ceiling, right up to the bottom of the plaster moldings, and almost from party wall to party wall.
