rippling red metal panels form fiery facade for taiwanese restaurant by paperfarm
Briefly

Architecture studio Paperfarm has transformed the Old New Taiwanese Cuisine restaurant in Kaohsiung, Taiwan, following damage from a typhoon. Instead of restoring the building’s faux-historic facade, the design incorporates 1,080 rippling red metal panels that create a dynamic dialogue between the past and present. This new facade symbolizes the restaurant's identity, emphasizing authenticity while showcasing Taiwanese culinary heritage. The installation of the perforated panels offers efficiency and resilience to natural disasters, enhancing the restaurant's urban presence with a design reflecting the essence of flame, cooking, and local identity.
