Dutch architecture firm MVRDV, in collaboration with EKUO, has secured the design of a new multifunctional market and food hall in Zhubei, Taiwan. Named the 'Market Cube' or 'River Bank 1,' the project reimagines traditional market spaces into a vertically layered, adaptable structure. Positioned along the Touqian River, it aims to serve as a major civic destination for Zhubei's youthful, affluent population, integrating diverse activities such as market stalls, daycare centers, and performance venues within a cohesive design that encourages community interaction.
MVRDV's Market Cube in Zhubei, Taiwan, aims to seamlessly blend modern convenience with the rich social fabric of traditional markets, adapting to evolving urban needs.
Designed to be a multifunctional hub, the Market Cube integrates commercial, social, and cultural activities, redefining the role of market buildings in urban settings.
