This project revitalizes a 1960s workers' cottage in Brisbane, focusing on sustainable design through smart reuse rather than replacement. Capitalizing on the local climate, the design includes a weather-protected pavilion for outdoor living, enhancing the home's social aspects while framing scenic views. The renovation encourages connectivity with the garden, brightening previously dark interiors and increasing functionality. A focus on sustainability is evident with the retention of the original structure and reuse of materials, harmonizing with Queensland’s architectural styles and the natural landscape.
The project encourages a direct connection to the garden, with renovations transforming a dark, introverted house into a functional, light-filled space.
By embracing Brisbane's favourable climate, a weather-protected outdoor space is created, extending the home’s footprint and enhancing social interaction.
