The circular pavilion designed by students from Kaiserslautern University of Applied Sciences repurposes materials from the Black Pavilion at the Villa Massimo in Rome. Situated in the Academy Garden in Stuttgart, it harmonizes with the symmetrical New Palace layout. The pavilion was built for a design-build teaching project, aimed at creating a communal space during the Summer of the Arts, offering an alternative perspective on the park and palace. The design emphasizes sustainability, simplicity in structural joints, and the creation of an inviting atmosphere for public interaction.
The pavilion's design embodies a circular structure, accommodating a community space while reusing elements from previous architecture to create an engaging public experience.
Using components from the Black Pavilion in Rome, the new circular pavilion showcases sustainability in architectural education through innovative, minimalist design techniques.
Placed centrally in front of the New Palace, the pavilion's geometric circular shape creates harmony within the existing symmetrical layout of the garden.
The pavilion serves as a hub for community engagement during the Summer of the Arts, transforming how citizens interact with both the park and palace.
