11 Social Houses in Palma / Carles Enrich Studio
Briefly

The architects propose a project comprising eleven homes on a narrow, previously used quarry site in Palma, designed to combat climate change and enhance urban fabric. The building's dual strategy features compact exterior facades facing the southeast and a set-back interior facade, complementing the site’s geological remnants. This approach augments passive performance, creating shadowed courtyards and enhancing outdoor spaces. The home types range from one to three bedrooms, optimally arranged to maximize usable space, while efficient kitchen-bathroom placements minimize installation length, showcasing versatility for climate adaptation.
The design focuses on integrating eleven homes into the site, adapting to pre-existing conditions and addressing urban irregularity while promoting eco-friendly practices.
By creating versatile living spaces that eliminate circulation areas, the project maximizes usable square footage and promotes a non-hierarchical organization, enhancing living quality.
