A meaningful career is vital, and jobs that contribute positively to society, such as doctors, are held in high regard. Pursuing work that resonates personally can influence life satisfaction. Reflecting on personal achievements against peers in impactful professions can lead to a sense of unearned recognition. Despite receiving accolades or elevated status in certain careers, it’s essential to acknowledge the value of various professions, particularly healthcare, where practitioners often question their own significance compared to others who visibly contribute to society's well-being.

Yet I was the one who'd got the nod. Don't get me wrong, I was proud of where I'd got to in my life, yet even then it felt as if my line of work conferred upon me an elevated status.
