The idea that government should be more like a business appeals to those experienced in business, who wish to apply familiar methods to governance.
While some business skills can enhance government, it is misguided to assume that making government resemble business will inherently improve it.
Just as dressing like a runner doesn't confer the health benefits of running, merely imitating business practices won't necessarily lead to governmental efficiency.
Although both government and business share positive qualities like efficiency, the differences in their roles mean one cannot simply replicate business models in government.
