Manifesting Black history in 3D - Harvard Gazette
Briefly

When I first encountered a lock of Frederick Douglass' hair, I found myself compelled to excavate Black history through material culture, shifting from landscapes to artifacts.
These artifacts are the forensic evidence of Black life and events in the United States, revealing both famous figures and everyday lives from the past.
The project Manifest: Thirteen Colonies captures diverse materials, including items linked to Malcolm X, James Baldwin, and also unknown objects that reflect the broader African American experience.
The exhibition, which runs until April 2025, presents a remarkable collection of artifacts that tell the narrative of Black history across the thirteen original colonies.
