It's strange that your husband-someone who knows you pretty well-would struggle to understand what your job entails or why these events wouldn't be enjoyable for you.
Agree to get a babysitter and bring him to the next party, so he can watch you scramble to keep the whole event organized.
Better yet, delegate a small but stressful task to him, so he can personally experience what it's like to be in a fun environment without actually having fun.
My hope is that he ends the night frazzled and a little exhausted and never makes another comment about your work again.
