Success is not what defines the fringe experience. Failure does. Because the fringe might promise to make your showbiz dreams come true, but in reality it is more likely to give you scurvy.
Put on a show there is closer to gambling than to acting. I had a little more scrambling to do than many artists who keep going back. I was gambling on myself, and the house won.
