Winemaker Andranik Manvelyan described the absurdity of harvesting grapes during shelling in October 2020, recalling scenes reminiscent of a movie with explosions everywhere.
Grigori Avetissyan, founder of the winery Kataro, humorously recalled how he bribed Russian peacekeepers to access and smuggle 1,000 indigenous grapevines to preserve his livelihood.
Avetissyan stated, "When you can't imagine anything but pressing forward, what else can you do?" highlighting the necessity of persistence amid despair.
Manvelyan noted, "Laughter helps you to survive," suggesting that humor is vital for coping in dire circumstances like war.
