New Law May Allow NYC Supermarkets To Sell Wine

The legalization of wine sales in grocery stores is once again a topic of discussion in New York. If the law gets passed, it could have consequences for independent liquor stores.
It's not necessary to have wine for purchase in multiple locations... If people go elsewhere to buy their wine, I may as well shut down my business.
State senator Liz Krueger sponsors the bill and has been championing the issue for years. She believes that allowing wine sales in grocery stores would benefit tourists and generate significant revenue.
Tourists are often dismayed to discover the law won't let them buy wine in the grocery store.
The Business Council of New York also supports the bill, citing the potential for significant revenue.
The revenue that would come of it will be significant.
