Google is testing a page annotation feature in its iOS app that injects links into publishers' web content, redirecting visitors to Google Search results. While the feature can be intrusive for web publishers, users can opt out using a specific Google form, which reportedly takes around a month to take effect. Testimony from users indicates the opt-out process works as intended, alleviating concerns about Google misappropriating web traffic. Publishers are encouraged to opt out if they disagree with the feature's impact on their web pages.
The opt-out form does work! -> A quick update about Google's Page Annotations test (where Google is injecting links into publisher content via the Google Search App). About 3.5 weeks after opting out via Google's form, my site is finally NOT showing annotations.
Google said you can use this Google form to opt out of page annotations and within 30 days after you submitting this form, the feature won't work on your pages.
