US Secret Service shoots armed man near White House after confrontation

An armed man, allegedly suicidal and traveling from Indiana, was shot by US Secret Service agents near the White House around midnight. The incident occurred while then-President Donald Trump was in Florida. Secret Service agents were alerted by local police and found the suspect, who brandished his firearm as officers approached. Fortunately, no other individuals were harmed during the confrontation. The man was hospitalized, his condition remains unknown. The Metropolitan Police department will conduct an investigation since law enforcement officers were involved in the shooting.
The Secret Service received information from local police about an alleged suicidal individual who was traveling from Indiana and found the man's car and a person matching his description nearby.
As officers approached, the individual brandished a firearm and an armed confrontation ensued, during which shots were fired by our personnel.
The Secret Service stated that the shooting happened around midnight about a block from the White House, while the president was in Florida.
The Metropolitan police department will investigate because the shooting involved law enforcement officers.
