Sony's PlayStation VR headsets have been around for years, but Microsoft has so far steered clear of the wearable tech market in gaming. However, that may be changing soon as the Xbox brand is set to make an appearance on an upcoming Meta Quest VR headset.
Meta has confirmed a partnership with Xbox to develop a limited-edition Meta Quest VR headset inspired by Xbox. This collaboration marks a significant move towards creating an open computing platform for the metaverse, bridging gaming and virtual reality technologies.
Xbox and Meta have previously collaborated on bringing Xbox Cloud Gaming to Meta Quest 3, enabling players to experience games like Halo Infinite in a VR environment. Mark Zuckerberg, the CEO of Meta Platforms, hinted at an Xbox-themed Meta Quest with features like an Xbox controller and access to Xbox Game Pass.
In addition to the Xbox collaboration, Meta is also working with other companies like ASUS to develop new gaming headsets utilizing the Meta Horizon OS. This demonstrates Meta's efforts to expand its partnerships within the gaming industry and enhance the VR experience for users.
