Xbox Boss Says Bringing Games To PS5 Is "Good For Gamers"
Briefly

Microsoft is adopting a multiplatform release strategy, bringing its first-party games to competitors like PS5 and Nintendo Switch. According to Craig Duncan, Head of Xbox Game Studios, this approach is beneficial for gamers and helps developers by expanding the reach of games. This aligns with Phil Spencer's views on not restricting game access. Titles like Sea of Thieves and Forza Horizon 5 are being released on rival systems, allowing for cross-play and a larger audience. Ultimately, this strategy also supports financial growth for Microsoft as they earn revenue from sales on other platforms.
"I think it's good for gamers, I think it's good for our studios," Duncan said on the official Xbox podcast.
"It doesn't really benefit people to gatekeep games. Restricting where games can be played is not helping the games themselves," he said.
"I just think it's good for gamers, it's good to have our games reach more places," Duncan said.
