Sony Interactive Entertainment has announced a leadership change, transitioning from a co-CEO system to a single CEO. Hideaki Nishino will assume the role beginning April 1, 2025, while Hermen Hulst will remain head of the Studio Business Group. This change comes after a tumultuous year in 2024, which saw mixed success in game releases and a reevaluation of its live-service game strategy. Looking ahead, Sony aims to grow its PlayStation community and has high hopes for big game releases and media expansions in 2025.
It has been a pleasure working more closely with Hermen and Nishino and gaining insight into the ever-changing, fast-paced world of Sony Interactive Entertainment.
As we hand the baton to Nishino and this exceptional leadership team, I am confident that SIE will reach new heights in the days ahead.
Sony plans to grow the PlayStation community in new ways such as IP expansion and technology innovation.
2025 does have a more positive outlook for Sony, as big games like GTA 6, Assassin's Creed Shadows, and Ghost of Yokei are scheduled to arrive this year.
