Palworld, a game similar to Pokémon, gained popularity in 2024 but has yet to be released on the Nintendo Switch due to technical challenges. Pocketpair’s communications director noted that the game’s complexity makes it hard to run on the current hardware. Although the upcoming Switch 2 might support it better, Pocketpair is still awaiting the new console's specifications. Legal troubles with Nintendo regarding gameplay mechanics further complicate the situation, with a lawsuit demanding both an injunction and financial compensation.
"If we could make the game work on the Switch, we would, but Palworld is a beefy game," he said in an interview with IGN.
"Like everyone else, we're waiting. If [the Switch 2 is] beefy enough, it's 100% worth considering," he said.
"We did a lot of optimization for Steam Deck, which we were really happy with. Still work to do, but we're really happy with how it turned out."
"Nintendo is going after Pocketpair and Palworld because Pocketpair was 'copying what they are doing.'"
