Blizzard announces testing of a 6v6 format return in Overwatch 2, with a new role system allowing flexible team compositions while ensuring required roles are filled.
The first test for the 6v6 format will require at least one hero from each role, allowing varying choices for the remaining slots while preventing pure DPS teams.
A second test for 6v6 will include principles from the sequel with reworks and adjustments, aiming to redefine team dynamics and playstyles.
In addition to 6v6 tests, Blizzard will experiment with limiting the current 5v5 format to two heroes per role, introducing a midseason game mode called 'Kingmaker'.
