On December 17, the official McDonald's Japan Twitter account tweeted out a single image that, according to Google, translates to "Notice." The teaser image also contained copyright text for "Project EVA" and Khara, the studio behind the Rebuild of Evangelion series, which all seemed to point to an Evangelion collab.
According to translated text on the poster, the figures will cost $25. Folks in Japan will be able to register for a chance to buy them via the McDonald's app starting on December 19. That lottery period ends on January 10, 2024. After that, selected winners will be able to buy the limited-edition figures from January 20-26.
It's likely to be officially announced in the next 24 hours. This latest collab is far from McDonald's first. Earlier this year, the fast food giant did a large crossover promotion with . And in 2022, the burger chain did a collaboration with Gundam.
Sadly for those looking to get their hands on some of these Evangelion figures, history tells us that they will remain exclusive to Japan. McDonald's crossover promotions tend to be regional and not global.
