President Donald Trump's portrait was placed as the White House's LinkedIn page photo, replacing the official crest for company images. LinkedIn automatically pulls a company's page image to populate users' work history entries, so former staffers who list the White House now show Trump's face on their resumes. Obama's LinkedIn profile and many former Biden aides' entries reflected the change. White House communications staff publicly acknowledged the switch and described it as trolling. Some affected former staffers noted the change and sought workarounds, but no clear solution beyond altering the listed employer was immediately apparent.
President Donald Trump managed to troll former President Barack Obama and every single former Democratic staffer who touts their time at the White House on LinkedIn by switching the White House's page photo with a picture of his own face. Users first began to notice the change on Tuesday after Obama's Linkedin profile, where he regularly posts book recommendations and updates, featured a picture of Trump.
The professional networking platform allows users to list out their past work experience and companies they'd worked for, for which the platform automatically pulls an image from the company's page to populate use's work history entries. In Obama's case, his resumes entry recording his time as President of the United States at The White House now features Trump's face instead of the official White House crest. Indeed, anyone who tagged the White House as a place of work in the past, including all of former President Joe Biden's aides, suddenly had Trump stamped across their resumes. When Jeremy Edwards, an ex-Biden spox, noted the change to his own profile, Trump's White House Director of Communications Steven Cheung mocked him and confirmed the effort was to troll: MAGA delighted in the move: LMAO!
