"to make sure that people can access this technology from all over the world, including China."
President Donald Trump announced that Nvidia may sell its advanced H200 chips to approved customers in China, and signaled the decision will apply to other US chipmakers including AMD. The change followed intensive lobbying by Nvidia chief Jensen Huang, who recently visited Washington. Nvidia had previously been restricted from selling its most advanced chips to Beijing; a July reversal included a demand for a portion of Chinese revenues and later reference to a 25% payment. Beijing reportedly ordered domestic tech firms to stop buying chips manufactured for the Chinese market. Nvidia welcomed the Commerce Department vetting process and the decision's potential to support American jobs.
