Kevin Warsh was sworn in as the 11th chair of the Federal Reserve before a Republican audience. President Donald Trump praised Warsh and said Warsh should be totally independent, not look to Trump or others, and simply do a great job. Trump criticized former Fed Chair Jerome Powell, saying the Fed lost its way and became distracted by issues beyond its core mission, including climate policy and D.E.I. Trump also cited the last administration’s deficit and described inflation as the worst in history. Trump said Warsh has emphasized restoring the Fed’s integrity by returning to responsibilities for price stability and low inflation and for achieving full employment.
