During a recent CNN broadcast, anchor Kate Bolduan challenged White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt regarding the detrimental impact of President Trump's tariffs on farmers. Bolduan shared the concerns voiced by Senator Thom Tillis and farmer Wendy Brugh, who emphasized the severe financial strain on farmers, especially after recent crop losses. Leavitt defended the tariffs, stating they support American farmers against foreign threats and stimulating domestic investment; however, the comments underline a growing tension between the administration's policies and the real-life struggles faced by agricultural workers.
The President is standing up for American farmers. In fact, he was joined here at the White House yesterday by many of them.
Anyone who says there may be a little bit of pain before we get things right, need to talk about farmers who are one crop away from bankruptcy.
These tariffs are pouring salts in a wound that is just now beginning to heal.
We encourage them to buy American and you look at the effectiveness of the tariffs by the investments that have poured into our country thus far.
