Woman leaps from moving car after being stabbed
"A woman jumped from a moving car after she was stabbed multiple times Sunday morning in Salinas, authorities said. The incident happened just after midnight near the northbound Boronda Road off-ramp, according to the California Highway Patrol. The victim was taken to Natividad Medical Center, where she was treated for stab wounds. Detectives identified the suspect vehicle as a 2017 Kia Sorrento and the registered owner as Evelio Ramirez Ruiz, 19, of Salinas, the CHP said."
"At that point, Ramirez Ruiz was already in custody at the Monterey County Jail for an unrelated incident. Ramirez Ruiz was linked to the stabbing and arrested on suspicion of attempted murder, assault with a deadly weapon, false imprisonment, attempted kidnapping and aggravated mayhem. Our detectives worked quickly and collaboratively with our law enforcement partners to identify and arrest the suspect, Capt. Eric Zivic said in a statement. This was a violent and disturbing attack, and the victim's actions likely saved her life."
