Prosecutors alleged a yearslong plot spanning multiple states, involving cryptocurrency payments and dark web communications. Court documents alleged discussions about making the killing “appear to be an accident.” Gonzalez was arrested at the Arcata-Eureka area airport in Humboldt County and later transferred to Los Angeles County custody. The Los Angeles County District Attorney said the investigation began with the FBI and resulted in charges. The father was accused of helping his daughter and boyfriend break the law.
