Sinmyah Amera Ceasar, an ISIS recruiter known as 'Umm Nutella', was sentenced to more than 19 years in prison for multiple convictions including conspiracy to support ISIS, obstructing justice, and failing to appear in court. Authorities arrested her at JFK Airport in 2016 as she attempted to flee the U.S. Despite her guilty pleas, she continued to promote ISIS propaganda and attempted to aid others in joining the group. Her sentence is seen as a necessary measure to protect public safety from extremist ideologies.
