FDA warns top U.S. bakery not to claim foods contain allergens when they don't
Briefly

U.S. Food and Drug Administration inspectors found that Bimbo Bakeries USA listed ingredients such as sesame or tree nuts on labels even when they weren't in the foods. Under FDA regulations, such products are misbranded," FDA officials said in a warning letter.
Advocates at Food Allergy Research & Education (FARE) expressed concerns as such mislabeling impacts the estimated 33 million Americans with food allergies, potentially leading to life-threatening reactions.
FARE's chief executive, Sung Poblete, emphasized the necessity of accurate product labeling for the health and safety of their community, expressing disappointment in Bimbo Bakeries' misleading practices.
Bimbo Bakeries USA, responding to the FDA warning, stated their commitment to consumer safety regarding allergen sensitivities while engaging with the FDA to address the mislabeling issue at hand.
