Forecasters warned that dangerous heat and humidity will spread across the central and eastern United States this week, with record-breaking high temperatures expected.
The heat wave will bring unseasonably hot temperatures to the Upper Midwest and Mid-Atlantic, possibly making it feel like 105 to 115 degrees Fahrenheit.
The extreme heat is not only unusually late in the season, but it may also be the hottest temperatures recorded in some parts of the Midwest this summer.
Temperatures are expected to build in the Midwest through Tuesday, then move to the Mid-Atlantic and Southeast, pushing highs near 100 degrees.
