During the annual Berkshire Hathaway shareholder meeting, Warren Buffett expressed concerns regarding the impact of tariffs and trade wars, indirectly referring to President Trump. He emphasized that trade should be a means of cooperation rather than a tool for conflict, warning that tariffs could lead to negative global attitudes towards the U.S. He advocated for collaboration and mutual prosperity, arguing that the success of other nations ultimately benefits America as well. Buffett’s statements were received positively, as shareholders recognized his decades of leadership and vision for international trade.
Trade should not be a weapon. I mean, we should be looking to trade with the rest of the world and we should do what we do best and they should do what they do best.
I do think that the more prosperous the rest of the world becomes, it won't be at our expense, the most prosperous we'll become, and then the safer we'll feel.
