The poll showed that neither candidate had a post-convention bounce, and Robert F. Kennedy Jr.'s endorsement of Trump was statistically insignificant. Harris led Trump 50 percent to 46 percent in the national sample, with that lead widening to 52 percent to 46 percent among likely voters.
As the CNN panel on Inside Politics with Dana Bash highlighted, Harris still had a slight lead, but the gender gap between the two candidates' support was increasing.
According to the poll, Trump was now only +2 with white women—a statistical tie within the margin of error—but had grown his lead with white men to +21.
The gender gap there is just incredibly clear, said CNN White House correspondent Arlette Saenz, adding that both the Harris and Trump campaigns were making plays for women voters.
