Nearly 200 British businesses have switched to a four-day week permanently, showcasing a growing interest in shorter working hours despite governmental hesitations.
The Labour government has not yet embraced the four-day week policy, possibly fearing that it could provide leverage to the Conservative opposition.
The current trial involves 17 businesses implementing various forms of a shortened working week, aimed at presenting outcomes to the government later this summer.
Angela Rayner, deputy prime minister, has supported the concept, arguing that if productivity can be achieved in four days, it should be pursued.
