The incident occurred around 9:20 pm, resulting in her death at the scene. Two others, a woman in her 30s and a 12-year-old boy, were hospitalized with injuries that are not life-threatening. Police confirmed the motorist involved has been arrested for causing death by dangerous driving. Detective Sergeant Paul Jackson, from the Met's Roads and Transport Policing Command, stated, "Our thoughts remain with Chithra's family at this difficult time. The investigation into this tragic incident is ongoing."
The Metropolitan Police confirmed the motorist involved has been arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving, although they have been released on bail pending further investigation.
