Eilish, born on May 11, 1922, celebrated her remarkable 103rd birthday at Baltinglass Hospital with family and friends. Originally from Dunlavin, she spent over six decades in the UK as a fabric buyer before returning to Ireland to live with her nephew Junior and family. As the oldest resident at the hospital, Eilish enjoys exceptional care. When asked about her long life, she remarked there is no secret, although family attributes her longevity to a healthy lifestyle, including walking, eating well, and abstaining from smoking and drinking in later years.
Reflecting on Eilish's birthday celebrations, Teresa said that she recently asked her what the secret of long life is, to which Eilish replied: "There is no secret."
Eilish would have worked a lot of her life, and was over in the UK for 60 years, working as a buyer in an enormous store where they sold fabric. It would have had a lot of staff in it, and people would come in and buy material to make their own clothes and things.
She never smoked or drank, and that would definitely help a bit! Now, when she was young and out socialising with her friends, she went out and partied and drank, but she didn't drink in later years.
Heaping praise on Baltinglass Hospital for the stellar care Eilish has received, her family expresses gratitude for the support and environment provided to their beloved matriarch.
