"The London Fire Brigade (LFB) were called to a fire shortly after 1am on Saturday on Weirdale Avenue in Whetstone. Two men were rushed to hospital by paramedics following the blaze and the brigade confirmed on Monday that one of the men involved had later died. Firefighters wearing breathing apparatus had rescued a man from the building using a fire escape hood and most of the ground and first floors of an end-of-terrace house were damaged by the blaze, the LFB said."
"We were called at 1.08am on Saturday 4 October to reports of a fire on Weirdale Avenue, Whetstone. We sent resources to the scene, including ambulance crews, paramedics in fast response cars, an advanced paramedic, an incident response officer and paramedics from our hazardous area response team (HART). We also dispatched a trauma team in a car from London's Air Ambulance. We treated two patients at the scene and took them to hospital."
A man in his 90s died after being taken to hospital following a house fire on Weirdale Avenue in Whetstone, north London. The London Fire Brigade were called shortly after 1am on Saturday and attended with crews from Southgate, Barnet, Finchley and Hornsey. Firefighters wearing breathing apparatus rescued a man using a fire escape hood and most of the ground and first floors of the end-of-terrace house were damaged. Two men were taken to hospital and one later died. Firefighters left the scene by 2:34am, around 90 minutes after the initial call. The Brigade and Metropolitan Police are investigating the cause.
