This legendary London rail hub is officially the busiest train station in Britain
"Coming top of the nationwide list for an impressive third year in a row was Liverpool Street station. The City of London hub clocked a whopping 98 million entries and exits in the time period, a solid 3.5 million more than it did in last year's list. The ORR says this increase reflects the 'continuing impact of the Elizabeth line' since its middle section opened in 2022. 'Pool Street is also served by London Overground and Greater Anglia services, including the Stansted Express."
"Once again, the entire top 10 busiest stations in Britain were all found in London. In second place was Waterloo with 70.4m entries and exits and third was Paddington with 69.9m. Before the opening of the Elizabeth line, Waterloo often dominated rankings of the busiest stations in London (and the UK) - topping the list in 17 of the previous 18 years."
The Office of Rail and Road published passenger entries and exits for April 2024–March 2025, ranking all UK stations. Liverpool Street recorded 98 million entries and exits, an increase of 3.5 million from the previous year, reflecting the continuing impact of the Elizabeth line and additional services including London Overground and Greater Anglia with Stansted Express. The entire top ten busiest stations nationally were in London. Waterloo was second with 70.4 million and Paddington third with 69.9 million. Paddington, Tottenham Court Road, Bond Street and other Elizabeth line stations featured prominently. Waterloo had dominated rankings in 17 of 18 years before the Elizabeth line opened.
