Maximillian Bourne, 26, was sentenced to an indefinite hospital order for the brutal attack on housekeeper Joselia Pereira Do Nascimento in February 2024. The Southwark Crown Court found Bourne unfit to stand trial due to mental health issues. The attack left Ms Nascimento with severe physical and emotional scars, yet Bourne's wealthy family provided no support following the incident. The court highlighted the brutality of the attack and the long-lasting effects it had on Ms Nascimento, including PTSD and panic attacks, as Bourne's family remained largely uninvolved.
Judge Gregory Perrins described how Ms Nascimento had been watching television in her room on the evening of the attack when Bourne knocked on her door and asked her to come outside. He then viciously and brutally attacked her, stabbing her repeatedly with a kitchen knife to her head and her body.
The judge told the court Ms Nascimento has permanent scars which cause her intense pain. She suffers with mental health issues including post-traumatic stress disorder and panic attacks.
