Nicola Sturgeon's husband charged in police probe into SNP finances
Briefly

Peter Murrell, the husband of Nicola Sturgeon, has been charged in connection with the embezzlement of funds from the Scottish National Party following a Police Scotland investigation. He was taken into custody on Thursday morning after previously being arrested in April last year.
Ms. Sturgeon was also later arrested and released without charge the same day as Peter Murrell. She was questioned voluntarily as part of the investigation into the party's finances. Former party treasurer Colin Beattie was also arrested but released without charge.
Peter Murrell's charge comes amid an investigation known as Operation Branchform, which focuses on funds raised for Scottish independence campaigning since 2017. The investigation aims to shed light on the financial dealings of the Scottish National Party.
